Heavy UAE rains: There was no impact on early morning flights, but over a dozen planes to the emirate had to be rerouted.
According to a DXB spokesman, a number of flights arriving and departing from Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Saturday were diverted to an adjacent airport.
“Dubai Airports can confirm that since early on Saturday, March 9, the unfavorable weather has affected normal operations at Dubai International (DXB).” 13 incoming aircraft have been relocated to other airports as a result, according to a statement from DXB.
The airport representative continued, “We are actively working with our airline partners and service partners to minimize any inconvenience experienced by our valued guests.”
Emirates flights
“Some Emirates flights arriving at and departing from DXB have been delayed while others were diverted,” an Emirates official further stated.
The airline did not provide precise figures because the weather is unpredictable.
“We will endeavor to deliver our passengers to their destinations as quickly as possible while keeping an eye on the situation. Emirates regrets any trouble it may have caused. Emirates informed that “the safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised.”
EK flight 903 to Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan was rescheduled from 2.05 pm to 4 pm, per the DXB Flight Status page. Additionally delayed was the EK031 flight to London Heathrow Airport.
Flight 2:40 p.m. to Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport was rescheduled for 3:15 p.m. The EK 857 flight to Kuwait has been canceled, and the EK 859S flight has been delayed for about two hours.
Updates are still pending for flights to Jinnah International, Indira Gandhi International, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airports.

Flights by flydubai
A flydubai representative stated, “The unfavorable weather in Dubai this morning has resulted in a few cancellations and delays to some of our flights.”
Additionally, several incoming flights needed to be rerouted. We are keeping an eye on Dubai’s weather conditions. Our top focus is the safety of our passengers and crew, and we are working with all relevant parties at the airport to minimize any interruption to our guests’ travel plans. The airline located in Dubai continued, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the unfavorable weather conditions may have caused our passengers.”
Etihad flights
As of right now, Etihad Airways flights out of Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport are running as usual.
However, the Abu Dhabi carrier had already recommended departing travelers to arrive at the airport early to prevent delays caused by the predicted bad weather this weekend.
Weather forecast
Rainfall of various intensities is expected to persist till Sunday, primarily in the northern and eastern regions of the nation, as to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
By Sunday evening and into Sunday night, the unstable weather will progressively lessen and become limited to the eastern regions. Monday is expected to be dry, but there is a possibility of fog developing early in the day.
